Miscellany

I took the photo album I had made at AOL Pictures (our cruise pictures) into work today and everyone said they thought it was really neat. I must say, I was very pleased with how it turned out. Other sites offer the same service, I just used AOL because that's where I store my pictures. There were a couple of typos, but they were entirely my fault! I wouldn't do this for every vacation (for the amount I'd spend on that, we'd be able to take another vacation!), but for a special trip like the cruise, I'm glad I did it. It's a lot easier than subjecting people to flipping through endless pictures. When we take our Route 66 trip one day, I'm sure I'll want to do one then.

Since I was off yesterday, I was able to order tickets for the Bob & Tom Comedy tour coming to town in March. I called just a few minutes after they went on sale, so I got us second row seats! Excellent. One of my favorites will be there: Drew Hastings. I don't usually like his sort of cynicism, but he just cracks me up. His adventures on his Ohio farm are hilarious. His alter-ego is Jack Freeman, motivational speaker. Always makes me laugh. I'm looking forward to it!

I guess I'll be the one to go ahead and spill the beans about something happening this weekend. It's all really hush-hush, but living in Indiana, we're starting to hear whispers and rumors. It looks like on Sunday, the Patriots are coming to town to play my Colts, and they are both unbeaten! That's right, you heard it here first, folks. Good God, the hype for this game is ridiculous. It started a good month ago, and when they both ended up with no losses, it went into overdrive. I don't see what the big deal is, since it's obvious that the Colts are going to win. <grin> Let's see...last I saw the line was Pats by 5.5, but my call is going to be the Colts by 7. C'mon, they're at home, man. The Dome is notoriously hard for away teams to play in. Also, the teams the Colts have played have like a .550 winning percentage, while the teams the Pats have played have around .450. Weak. (Don't quote me on those numbers--I can't remember exactly what they are, but that's in the ballpark.) Harrison probably won't play, but we have plenty of other offensive options, and the defense is playing unbelievably well. We won't be able to stop them from scoring, but like my friend Brandon at work said this morning, "I don't need a blowout. Just beat 'em. That's what matters." Yup.

Addendum

Hillary is under attack from her opponents. So? Isn't that how the political machine works? You're running against someone, you're going to get attacked at some point. I'm surprised it hasn't happened before now. Her campaign is saying that these attacks are coming because she is the first viable female candidate.

No. No no NO. Do not play that card, you dolts. (Actually, go ahead and play it. It will backfire on you.) As a woman--a woman with a degree, a woman who has worked since she graduated, a woman who has taken responsiblity for her own life--I find that incredibly offensive. Essentially, they're saying, "Stop picking on her because she's a girl!" Are you kidding me? If you want to be taken seriously, stop this crap immediately. I don't believe I have EVER used that excuse in my life. Yeah, I'm a girl. So what? Honestly, you got a problem with that? My parents taught me to believe that I could do whatever I put my mind to, and my gender had nothing to do with it. If you know your stuff, if you make sure you're knowledgable, if you treat people well and fairly, that will speak volumes. If you live your life that way, you will get the respect you deserve, but the second you get all whiny and pouty and say, "Stop picking on me," THAT is the moment that they will pounce. I think Hillary's finding that out even as I write.

Jeez, show some dignity. Show some BALLS, for God's sake.

I gotta laugh about the big game tomorrow.  I may even watch it.  I lived in Massachusetts for 17 years.

Hey Traci, thanks for being a good sport about my comments. It's going to be a great game, that's for sure, and despite all the hype, it really IS a big game!
