Two games, two losses

You know, one of my main topics on this blog was going to be Notre Dame football. Funny how it's just about the last thing I want to talk about right now! I'll say just a couple of things about the Notre Dame/Navy game. First of all, ND lost to a Navy team that played hard and played well, but part of the problem was ND's coach. That's right, Charlie, I blame YOU. You had a chance to go for a field goal and win the game, but for some inexplicable reason, you chose to go for the first down on fourth and eight. Yes. 4th and 8. YOU lost this game. There's something you should keep in mind: the ND alum do not take kindly to seasons such as this, and ND has lots of money, plenty enough to buy out your contract. Right now, I wouldn't be surprised if Regis Philbin personally put up the entire $20 million or so to buy you out, all by himself.

Also, how can I be too upset by this? This season is moot at this point, and we lost to Navy. One of our military academies, a bunch of fine young men and women, and if you talk to anyone in town, they'll be happy to tell you what a great bunch of kids the Middies are. We were there a couple of years ago when Weis started the tradition of the Irish standing in front of the Navy section while Navy sang their alma mater. The ND guys were right in front of us, the Middies were to our right, and it was one of the most moving things I've seen in a long time. I'll never forget it.

Second game: Colts lost to the Patriots. My prediction was wrong, but the Pats didn't cover the spread, either (5 and a half), so I bet some people lost a chunk o' change on that game. I'm disappointed, but I'm not devastated or anything. I still love my teams and watching the games, but I think I've also started to put things into a little more perspective. In the big picture of things, why should I let a game get to me so much? I shouldn't--that's just silly.

Or maybe I'm just feeling a little tired, and ready to take a nap. I think I'll join my husband on the couch, and curl up for a little snooze. Ahhh, life is good.

Sorry your teams didn't do well.  I was happy that the Pats won.  I only saw a few minutes of the game though.

Hey, Colts and Pats was a good game. So many of the games that are hugely hyped end up being lame, but this was a good one the whole game through. Pats won fair and square, so now I'll just look forward to the rematch!
