Flippin' A!

Here is my new toy, tenderly held in Ken's hand. I wanted to give you an idea of the size of the thing. As I was opening the package, I kept making little sounds of delight, because it's got to be one of the cleverest little things I've seen in a while! It really is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, and even with the batteries in (2 AA's), it's not heavy at all. (My digital camera also uses AA's, and I got rechargeables for that, so this works out perfectly.) It's an elegant design, with a nice, soft plastic finish. Ken and I agreed that black would be the best color, and I'm glad that's what we got. I can see the white getting dirty awfully fast.

I took a quick video of Ken being goofy just to get an idea of how it works. Then I took a video of Sheeba, and used that one to try out uploading and the software. The USB arm is pretty cool, but I'm using it on the laptop--I can see how if you were using it on a desktop or tower, you'd want to use a cable in order to not stress the arm too much. I still need to experiment with the little fella a LOT, but with my initial attempts, I'd have to say this is going to be tons o' fun! I can upload directly to AOL video or YouTube, but I haven't tried that yet. I can edit, and I can also make movies with songs attached. Oh boy oh boy, I can hardly wait to have some fun with this! It's supposed to get nice this week, so maybe I can get a little Nutwood action recorded for posterity.

Coming soon to a computer screen near you: Nutwood Junction, now with video! I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me.

They make the darndest things so tiny now...hard to imagine it can do what its supposed to do.  I remember my parents had a super 8mm camera you had to hoist on the shoulder (think bazooka)!  Very cool!
Enjoy :)

Hi Beth,
Just found your journal and thought I'd say Congratulations on your recent
retirement.  It is not an easy adjustment, after working many years, but
it seems like you have enough hobbies to keep you busy.  I share your love
of gardening, movies and books.  Have a happy Spring and enjoy!  Pat
