Put another dime in the jukebox, baby!

This is about my playlist, although it should maybe be called a "play list," because I feel like I'm a kid staying up late because school has been canceled! Ken has headed off to bed, but I have a sudden urge to revert to my natural night owl tendencies. For several years, I worked the evening shift, and I loved staying up till 3 or 4 AM and sleeping till noon. I won't be doing that during the week, but for this first weekend of freedom from the shackles of work, it feels sort of decadent and delicious to stay up late. Ooooo, I'm such a wild woman!

Okay, on to my playlist. As you might have figured out by now, I'm a bit of a music nut. I was looking to make a playlist to put up here, something unobtrusive. I don't really like it when you go to a site and it automatically starts playing music. Sometimes I'm playing something else, and sometimes I just don't want to hear anything. I found something called Finetune.com, and I had a blast today putting songs on it. It's got a pretty good variety of bands, but the songs are limited...I would love to add some of my obscure favorites to the list. Does anyone know of a way to create a playlist using your own files? I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to music files.

Anyhoo, I managed to find some fun songs to put on my playlist, and I had an email from Cousin Shane saying that he thought there were some great songs on there, including a couple he'd include on a compilation he's working on (such as "The Dead Heart" by Midnight Oil). I'm listening to my playlist right now, and "Psycho Killer" by the Talking Heads is playing. I haven't listened to this song for some time, and it's fun to remember what a great song it is. In looking for other songs, Finetunes was fun, because it suggested similar artists, which led me to some favorites that I haven't listened to for a while. I was also pleasantly surprised to find the somewhat obscure "Gone To Texas" by The Godfathers (it's playing now). It's an instrumental, and according to Peter Coyne, the lead singer, it's an homage to Ennio Morricone and the music of the spaghetti westerns.

But I digress. You can visit my playlist by clicking on the 45 rpm record in the About Me section. Check out some of the songs that I love, but only if you choose. A mere 45 songs can't begin to cover it for me! But I think you'll find some that you like. I was in an energetic mood, so I found myself choosing more kickin' songs, including some of my favorite '80's punk and new wave songs. But you'll also find some Dino, and some Johnny Cash, and some fairly mellow Kinks...oh, and a couple of Gonzo Ted Nugent songs. Nuge...he's just nuts, man, but he cracks me up, and he ROCKS!

I should head off to bed soon, but I have to admit that if feels kind of fun to stay up late. It almost feels naughty! HA!

I was a nightowl, but started going to bed earlier with Doc so I could get up with him. With him working as a teacher's aid, still teaching guitar in the evenings and doing gigs. We rarely see one another these days otherwise. He's off this week from his aid job but alas both of us are sick, go figure. (Hugs) Indigo
