Sports Center

We're currently watching The Golf Channel, where Tiger has now tied for the lead in the Dubai Classic. He's so much fun to watch. It's 10:45 AM here, which means that the Super Bowl pregame show should be starting any minute now! Actually, it doesn't start until 2 PM, a mere 4 and a half hours of pregame. Hey! Tiger just took the lead! This is taped, so we could find out who won, but we like the suspense. Ken just made a liar out of me--he just checked and told me Tiger won. Darn it! I mean, I'm glad he won, but I wanted to watch it! Grrrr.

We'll be doing our Game Day snack food dinner this evening. Different cheeses (I LOVE Swiss cheese, or Swiss-type cheeses, like Gruyère and Emmentaler), summer sausage, some cherry peppers for me and pepperoncini for Ken, crackers, that sort of thing. I'm also going to do a baked brie. Our favorite Italian restaurant serves this as an appetizer, and I tried it at home, with good results.

Baked Brie

wedge or wheel of brie

caramel apple dip

sliced almonds

Place brie in baking dish. Top with caramel and sliced almonds. Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is soft and melted. Serve with apple slices (tart ones like Granny Smiths are best) and/or crackers.

How easy is that? Extremely.

As for the big game, looks like the Patriots are getting 12. I suppose they'll end up winning it, but I don't think they'll cover the spread. I'll go with Patriots 35-28. In my heart, though, I'd like to see the Giants win. No offense to all the Patriots fans out there, but I have to cheer for the underdog, and Peyton's little brother. And Tom Petty, one of my favorites, is playing at half-time. Excellent!

I've already fried up some Buffalo wings and now I've got some twice baked potatoes in the oven.  I think the Brie sounds great.  I'll have to try that sometime.
