A beautiful night

This network is SO unpredictable! I was able to hook up this morning and check mail, and Ken got on in the late afternoon and made an entry, and after that, I was unable to hook up. I'm currently sitting on the patio--literally ON it, dedicated blogger that I am--by the pool, where I got a connection, and it's not an entirely bad thing...it's very warm and pleasant, and the lady sleeping on the lounge chair and coughing in a tubercular manner doesn't seem to be bothered by me, and vice versa. I'm not sure what is up with that, but she's sleeping, and I won't disturb her. This is not open to the homeless, nor is it accessible to wanderers...perhaps a domestic dispute? No way to tell. She is not in distress, she is sleeping soundly, so I'll just let her sleep.

That's the balcony of our timeshare, looking the opposite way from the ocean. I'll post a larger picture eventually, because it's really pretty. If I were to turn around the opposite way, I'd be facing the ocean. This is the building where we always stay, and while we've stayed in the units further from the beach, this year we were able to get the one that while not facing the beach, is closest to it.

After Ken got in a workout this morning, we spent some more time on the beach. It seemed that it was either a little less hot, or else I’m getting more used to the intense heat. Either way, it was very pleasant out there, and I enjoyed it very much!

Lots of reading time—I finished The Darkest Evening of the Year and liked it a lot—and then we headed out to the fish market and got our fish for the rest of the week: scallops, tuna steaks, and swordfish steaks. Yummy yum yum yum! We got some shrimp cocktail while we were at it. Ken cooked the tuna steaks on the grill tonight, and they were PERFECT. A little charcoal-y on the edges, but tender inside, and I told Ken that it was almost melt-in-your-mouth!

Later in the afternoon, we took another walk down the beach. I’m starting to really like these walks in the afternoon!

We may be on Vegecation, but we’re still highly interested in what is happening in our world, and were watching CNN to see what happens with the final primaries. Looks like Obama will be the nominee. We’re irritated by the media push for Obama to ask Clinton to be his running mate. That’s up to him and his campaign.

We watched all three speeches: first McCain, then Hillary, then Obama. Since we're still trying to vegecate, I won't write tonight about what I felt or thought. I'll save it for when I get back. (You've been given fair warning!)

Hope you're all doing well! Again, while I'm trying to check comments and put up a post each day, I haven't been able to keep up with reading other journals. I promise to catch up when we get back, so bear with me for this week!

We're also getting lots more pictures and some videos, and I'm not sure if we'll get videos posted while we're here--maybe! Depends on the network. Golf tomorrow morning, then possibly a walk down the beach to Breakers.

Right now, I'm just delighted to be sitting out here in a big T-shirt at midnight and feeling quite toasty and warm! Hopefully more tomorrow! I hope you all feel as much peace as I'm feeling right now. Ahhhh....

Update

A family member just came down to collect the sleeping lady. I went over and asked if everything was okay, and the family member said, "She's gonna be okay." All is well.

It is a beautiful evening in Florida. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. I used to enjoy sleeping out by the pool myself, but people kept poking me to see if I was breathing. Florida's like that, yanno?

I didn't notice that you were posting at midnight!!  I haven't been awake at midnight in who knows how long!  Sounds like you are having a grand time vegecating!  Gonna have to use that one sometime soon.  Beach looks absolutely heavenly...especially without the throngs of people!

I loved to go out and sit on the balcony late at night.
The sea breeze rustling in the palm trees and the
sound of the surf is just heavenly.  Have a great
time and bottle up some memories.  (Sigh!)  Pat

Maybe that sleeping lady was drunk.
I am so glad you two are enjoying this special time. There is nothing like being able to be near a beach if you ask me. The heat is something else though in Florida. In Orlando in '05 i was MISERABLE!
HUGS!
