Another scorcher today!
After a brief meeting with the timeshare folks and a quick trip to the store, we hung out on the balcony until our friend Lee arrived at around noon. After getting caught up a bit, we took a walk down the beach to Breakers and had burgers for lunch. Oh baby, they were as good as ever!
In the afternoon, we spent a little time frolicking in the ocean. Well, Ken and Lee might object to me saying that they frolicked, but I frolicked, dammit! It felt great--warmer than the past few days.
We learned something today--those weird jellyfish-like blobs we see on the beach (I've always said that they look like breast implants) are sand dollars! That's what Lee thinks, anyway. They don't calcify and turn white until they're dried. I found one that was semi-dry, so I'll bring him back home. I always wondered what they were!
Ken will be barbecuing chicken tonight and we'll all just hang out here. Tomorrow, it's off to JB's Fish Camp for lunch and some raw oysters!
Off to join the guys on the balcony....

Tell the guys not to worry too much about their frolicking. I frolicked once, it was okay, no big deal.
You may want to know that "they've" issued new sand dollars with coding embeded in them and with more colors. It's to stop counterfeiting.

I'll never forget being a kid and running full ahead onto a deserted beach only to realize I was in the middle of dozens of jellyfish that had been washed ashore. I think my mother's hair turned white at an early age because of me...
You can have your raw oysters, I suffered enough with Doc and his food poisoning, thank you! I'm chuckling thinking of Ken and Lee frolicking in the waves...ummm that just sounds...oh hell, I'm leaving that one alone (hahaha)...

Nope, they are jelly fish, not sand dollars. Sand dollars are brown & kind of 'hairy' before they dry out & turn white. Sounds like you are having a good vacation. Enjoy.

Beware! Beware the Blobs. As one who was stung as a child,
I wouldn't touch one with a ten-foot pole. Very painful and
ruined a whole vacation for everyone. Took a month to heal.
Definitely not worth taking a chance. Have fun and a safe

i hope you can't be stung by those jelly fish....i saw lots of them in the Gulf 8 yrs ago....sounds like you are having a grand time away.

I had no idea that's what those are. Man I miss the ocean. I haven't been to down to Florida (the only place I've been in the ocean) in years. I try and play pretend at Lake Michigan but it's just not the same. There's electricity in the air down there that we just can't recreate up here. I always feel more alive when I'm standing in the ocean than anywhere else in the world.
