Is it Friday already?

Ken made some barbecue chicken last night, and it turned out really yummy! I think we all had plenty to eat, then sat out on the balcony for a few minutes to catch a little night air.

Lee had brought some board games down with him, so we played one called Wordsters, in which you have to form as many words as possible in a minute, that contain three letters in sequence (not necessarily in a row). I thought it was a lot of fun, but Ken and Lee didn't seem to like it as much. <grin>

Before lunch, we went to our usual spot at a small county park, where we can see manatees in the inlet. We saw quite a few of them this time, but the water was very murky, so we couldn't see their entire bodies. We did have fun watching a pelican chasing after a leaping fish, only to be outrun and outgunned by a dolphin, who leaped out of the water to score the fish. Very cool!

For lunch, we went to JB's Fish Camp, where I satisfied my raw oyster jones! Ken and I split a dozen, and they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I had a fried platter with oysters, fish, shrimp, clams, scallops, and a mini-crabcake. I couldn't even begin to eat it all--I rarely eat fried food like that, but I splurged today. I splurged a little more with a piece of Key Lime pie--my favorite!--and I'm feeling a little miserable at the moment. When we got back, Lee took off not too long after that, and while Ken went out for a run along the beach, I laid down for a little while. I didn't really sleep, but a little doze helped to settle my tummy a bit. <gurgle>

When Ken gets back, we'll have our last dip in the ocean this year. Hard to believe how fast the week went by.

Hey, about those jelly-like blobs that Lee thought might be sand dollars? Our first thought was jellyfish as well, but they're a sort of rigid gel, not gooey like I thought jellyfish would be. Also, no tentacles are apparent. It's just a semisolid disc of gel. Are those REALLY jellyfish? I poked at one with my toe and nothing happened. What the heck are they??

I've missed ya big time, but you know I'm sitting here sad to know the week ended so quickly for you. I ate like that the last time Doc ate his raw clams. I have a couple dozen steamed clams and loved it...It's only something I actually divulge in a couple times a year. So to some extent yeah we go hog wild (winks), (Hugs) See ya when you get back to Indiana hon! Indy

Vacation time goes by so quickly...its just not fair!  People either love or hate raw oysters.  You love 'em, I hate 'em.  Actually, I've never tried them, but I don't like the way they look, slimy!  Hope you guys have a safe trip home!

While it will be good to have you back at Nutwood,
we will miss your tropical tales.  Thanks to your
good descriptions,  it was ALMOST like being there.
You sure had a nice vacation,  bet you are already
looking forward to next year.  Gotta keep boys
next week, so it will be a busy one.  Write soon.  Pat

So I take it you beat Ken and Lee at Wordsters? :)  I love oysters, but fried, not raw.  Thomas, on the other hand, loves raw oysters and says there's an art to eating them correctly with bread and salt.  I'll take his word for it! lol

The food looks delicious!  I'm sorry the time flew by like it did.  I had an aunt that said years ago that a week's vacation just wasn't enough, and that two weeks you were just getting used to the idea of being off.  So, she felt three weeks vacation was about right.  I agree!  I'm glad you had such a fantastic time!

Ok, I honestly had to put one hand on the screen of this entry because that thing is just nasty.  ;)  Can you tell I don't eat seafood?  I'm catching up... v.e.r.y. slowly on journals so bear with me if you get comments from me on things from a month or so ago.  ;)

I'm just catching up on all your vacation entries. That oyster looks divine. I don't have a clue as to what those jelly-like things were but they sound yucky. I know, I sound liek a five year old. You took some great pictures, even the blue heron that you don't think turned out well looks great to me.--Sheria
