When I got home from work today, I opened the door, and Sheeba actually came running up to me. I've never seen him do that before, but it was pretty cute! He got his usual belly rub.
Every so often, I get one of those questionnaire dealies, where someone sends you their responses, and you copy it and insert your own responses. I don't forward them to a lot of people, but there are a few that I send them to, and it's always kind of fun to do and see if they respond. One of my favorite questions was, "Batman or Superman?" Batman, of course. He's the dark hero, the superhero inside all of us, the normal person that wants to save everyone. Superman is great, but he has extra powers. Batman is just a regular guy with gadgets and a bone to pick with criminals. But I digress.
One of the questions in the memes I've received was about pet peeves. We all have our own little things that grate on us. One thing came up at work the other day is when people just refuse to do something because they don't know how to do it, rather than asking someone to show them how to do it. That's an excuse that just doesn't cut it at my job--if you don't know, you ask someone to show you how. Step up to the plate and learn, and don't just say, "I can't do that." Yes, you can do it. Ignorance is not an excuse, and learning is always a good thing. Willful ignorance is my biggest pet peeve. It's purposefully choosing to ignore reality and the facts in front of you, and to continue to live in oblivion when it comes to the consequences of your choices and actions.
One of my other pet peeves is pretentiousness. Just be who you are. Use your manners, learn your etiquette, but don't try to be something you aren't. The harder you try to impress others, the more likely you are to come across as a pretender, and it's always apparent. Ignorance and bad behavior will always be obvious and they will always be unappealing.

I know people who hit you as a phony right away by saying things about theirself that you know just isn't so-and from then on you don't believe even half of what they say.
