His biz

Ken left bright and early this morning for a business trip. He'll return late on Sunday, so it'll be just me and Sheeba for a few days. I think we'll be just fine, although we'll miss him. As long as I have my faithful watchcat beside me, I'll be safe and sound. My faithful watchcat who is currently curled up and napping on the bed. After Ken left at around 6 AM, I went back to bed. I tossed and turned, but I know I must have fallen asleep at some point, because I remember dreaming. I had such a funny dream...I was running a marathon! Now that is hilarious!

Guess where Ken is going? Saskatoon, Saskatchewan! Isn't that just the greatest place name? It's downright fun to say. I think as I walk around here today, every once in a while, I'll just say "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan" out loud, for the sheer fun of saying it. Feel free to play along. So for anyone from Canada, Ken is in your neck of the woods for the next few days. I know it's a big place and all, but if you see him, be sure to say hi. Ha! Hey, Ziggy used to leave comments, and Ziggy was from Canada. Ziggy, if you're still reading, miss you! Hope you'll comment again one of these days!

We did get a pretty hard frost night before last, but as far as I can tell, the flowering trees are okay. The cherry should be in full bloom soon, and I'll be sure to get some pictures. It's a beauty. It's warmed up nicely today, and it feels good to open the windows again. This warmth and humidity is supposed to trigger some storms tonight. That's okay, I think we could probably use some rain.

Brooke got the boot on "American Idol" last night. Deservedly so, in my opinion--she was pretty weak Tuesday night. The other day I mentioned that I thought this year was kind of lame, and Ellen commented that she was really enjoying it. For some reason, Ellen, it just hasn't grabbed me this year! I don't know if I'm just tired of it, or if I was disappointed that some of the people got the boot early on, namely Michael Johns. I thought he was fantastic, and I was irritated that he wasn't going to be in it longer. We still watch it, but I don't think either of us are really into it this year. One we have gotten hooked on, though, is "Hell's Kitchen." At first, I didn't think I would like it, but we watched it a second week, and that was it--we were hooked. I'm not sure why, but it just kind of cracks me up when he does things like spitting out a mouthful of food, or throwing a steak at the wall. It has a sort of "Iron Chef" atmosphere when they're trying to crank out the dishes, and sometimes it seems like every other word is bleeped out. It's all highly entertaining! So add it to our short list of reality shows, which also includes "Idol" and "The Apprentice."

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan!

Yes, that name does have a nice ring to it.  Ya got me saying it.
You'll be fine.  Indulge yourself in all the little things that pamper
you, watch your fav shows,  read a good book,  bubble baths, etc.
I like "Hell's Kitchen" too but I never cared for "Iron Chef".  Guess
I am repulsed by squid and seaweed.  Well, gotta go plant an azalea.
Bought it for myself for Mothers Day (and an electric weed-eater)
Did not want to suggest them and just got for myself!   Take care.  Pat

Yes, I am the one from Canada, but from Beautiful BC and not Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I agree, it is a mouthful and a hoot to say it over and over. If I see Ken I will be sure to say "hi", but Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is a bit of a ways from me as I am in Vancouver. I am still around and read your journal every day. It is so interesting and one could never accuse you of being short on topics to talk about. You seem to cover them all and then some and give us lots to think about. I, too, love Hell's Kitchen and am a big fan.

Ziggy, I'm so happy to hear from you! I'm glad you're still reading, and please, don't be a stranger!

All my best,
Beth

Just to be clear, the first time we watched Hell's Kitchen, neither of us liked it, because he is such a snit <LOL>.  I watched it again, and decided it was not too bad, then last week we watched it together, and agreed that while he was vile, it had certain merits.  This week was number four, and now we are hooked.  So, if you have only watched once or twice, give it another couple of views :o)

Hope Ken has a safe trip. Ah, a few days alone, I am jealous !!
Ok, lets talk Idol !!  Your right , and I agree, that some went way to early. I know Lisajo aggrees on that too. I really do like most of the contestents though, compared to prior years. They are young, good looking kids. You know who I don't get? That young David Archeleta (sp). I don't get what everyone sees in him. I think he's horrible !!! LOL.
OK, Hell's Kitchen, now your talking. Chef Ramsey is awesome !! I love when gets mad too !  He does another show where he re-vamps resteraunts. Have you seen it? SO good. He's done quite a few here on the Island.
Take Care
Ellen

He has another show besides Hell's Kitchen that is even more entertaining. For the life of me I can't think of the name at the moment. Which is funny because Doc drives me mad watching it all the time. Anyway in the other show he goes to other establishments and tries to help them turn their business around. It gets downright ugly sometimes. For the most part he is able to help another restaurant owner turn an almost bankrupt establishment into a high priced restaurant. Other times the owners are stubborn and the place simply folds. I'll ask Doc what the name of the show is and pass it on. I think both you and Ken would enjoy it. (Hugs) Indigo

I have a friend who has a razor sharp intelligent mind and he sends me 2 emails a week about American Idol....one talking about their performances and one about whoever got kicked off and i am telling you, his stuff is good enough to print. He HATES David Archuleta. I LOVE LOVE AI but i could care less this year who wins....as soon as we lost Michael Johns i bet they lost a lot of real interest from middle age America....those teeny boppers are keeping the crappy ones there, like that awful Jason. Ugh.
I hope Ken has a safe trip!
HUGS!
