Forkin' A

When I was unloading the dishwasher this weekend, I remembered that I was missing a dinner fork in our set of silverware. I know it shouldn't be that big of a deal...but it is. I stewed about it all weekend. Well, not really--I just got out the warranty card, found Oneida's website, and made sure I could get open stock in my pattern. I could, and just ordered my replacement fork. I figured I'd check the drawer and see if I was missing anything else, and I was also missing a salad fork! How do forks go missing? I suppose they're hanging out with the AWOL socks.

While I was at it, I ordered 4 iced tea spoons and 4 soup spoons. I was going to order a set of 8 steak knives, but that really upped the price of the order, as well as the shipping, so I skipped those.

I'll be so happy to have a nice, even number of forks. That's a load off of my mind.

And if that's all I have to worry about today, I consider myself a very fortunate and blessed human bean.

Being a bachelor, I always forget to check if I'm missing anything. I lost a fork the other day but I finally found it. It was placed too close to the stove burner and it melted.

The same thing with glasses. Since we've moved AREA 51 to another Pub in the last six months, all of my glasses now have different designs. You'd think all taverns would have the same stock. What's a guy to do?

Glen and I were just contemplating this same dilemma...we have 7 forks...where did the other fork go??  Luckily, I haven't had any socks missing...its not "that" kind of machine!  Although when my kids were young, and I was washing massive amounts of socks...yup, invariably one or four would come up missing!  This was in the tube sock days when they had the colored bands around the calf (you're probably too young!), and they'd never pair up!

Looks like the Mystery of the Missing Fork (have I mentioned that I loved Nancy Drew when I was a youngster?) also struck a chord with folks! That makes me chuckle! I don't know why it was bugging me so much, but once I got to thinking about it, I HAD to have that eighth fork.

Jimmy, your comments deserved a rimshot! Ba-dum-CHH!

We are old enough to remember the color banded tube socks :o)
I rarely see them any more though, maybe they are at the dump in dryers!

You would find it fascinating dining at my home. I have about a dozen different varieties to choose from and can almost guarantee not one set on the table will be a matching set. I like it that way. It's easy, less stress and like me totally unpredictable. I lived the upper crust lifestyle (not saying you are or not by any means...no toe stepping here) during my last marriage, the whole dining set, silverware methodology. My ex's parents held me with so much disregard and formality, I said never again when the marriage ended. I'm as simple as they come and ever so happy that way. I can promise good company at my table though. (Hugs) Indigo
