...Groovy....

Tonight we watched "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn." (I'll do a review tomorrow.) I think Ken started to figure out why I love these movies, why they're so much fun for me (very dark humor!), and why I crack up when watching them. Also, Ash is a GREAT character, and it's fun to see his transition from weak and passive to a guy that's ready to kick some ass. It'll be fun to watch "Army of Darkness" together.

When I used to go out to clubs all the time, one of my favorite Indiana cover bands was P.S. Dump Your Boyfriend. They always played this clip from "Evil Dead 2" and then went into "Pepper" by Butthole Surfers. Both videos follow, after the lyrics...turn it up!

Pepper

Marky got with Sharon
And Sharon got Cherese
She was sharing Sharon's outlook
On the topic of disease
Mikey had a facial scar
And Bobby was a racist
They were all in love with dyin'
They were doing it in Texas
Tommy played piano
Like a kid out in the rain
Then he lost his leg in Dallas
He was dancing with a train
They were all in love with dyin'
They were drinking from a fountain
That was pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

I don't mind the sun sometimes
The images it shows
I can taste you on my lips
And smell you in my clothes
Cinnamon and sugary
And softly spoken lies
You never know just how to look
Through other people's eyes

Some will die in hot pursuit
In fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

I don't mind the sun sometimes
The images it shows
I can taste you on my lips
And smell you in my clothes
Cinnamon and sugary
And softly spoken lies
You never know just how you look
Through other people's eyes

Another Mikey took a knife
While arguing in traffic
Flipper died a natural death
He caught a nasty virus
Then there was the ever-present
Football player rapist
They were all in love with dyin'
They were doing it in Texas
Pauly caught a bullet
But it only hit his leg
Well it should have been a better shot
He got him in the head
They were all in love with dyin'
They were drinking from a fountain
That was pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

I don't mind the sun sometimes
The images it shows
I can taste you on my lips
And smell you in my clothes
Cinnamon and sugary
And softly spoken lies
You never know just how you look
Through other people's eyes

I remember when PS dump your boyfriend was THE band to go see around here.  Shortly after was Push Down and Turn.  Seems like all the local bands are more and more death metal.  I've never been into the club scene so the only bands I see live, are Dave Matthews Band (my mommy took me to see them and much to her dismay, two rows back people were smoking a joint, IN the JACC) and Counting Crows.  (who by the way were AWFUL, so messed up on who knows what that you couldn't even understand the most popular songs)

It sounds like you two are having lot's of fun! My wife and I are watching those flims, and many others in the coming days. Since I have been reading your journal I have discovered you have excellent tastes in Films and music. I agree with you about Ash's transition from the begining to the end of the films. Enjoy your cheese, and remember to watch out for those evil mice! Ha Ha

Stay Groovy,

Wes
