Yippee-skippy, we've got a debate going on tonight! Even though Congress hasn't come to an agreement on the bailout, McCain is now saying he will attend the debate.
Grab the popcorn, settle in, and watch the fun. I don't think either of them will be yukking it up like in that picture, but you never know. This was originally supposed to be about foreign policy, but it seems inevitable that there will be some discussion of the financial quagmire. I hope they don't change the topic completely, but I don't think they will. You DO have to prepare for a debate, and it would be unfair to both candidates to switch to a different topic.
It seems that quite a few people are interested in watching. There was an AOL poll up that said 83% of people planned on tuning in. Excellent!
We need to make a fairly early night of it tonight--no staying up till 3 AM for this gal! (I have GOT to get out of that habit, but I haven't been able to yet.) We have to get up kind of early--earlier than usual on the weekend, anyway--for my family's annual apple butter-making get-together. I'm excited, because it's the first one I finally get to go to! I'm not kidding, in past years, whenever I got that invitation, I'd look at my calendar and say, "Dang it, I have to work!" Not this year! I'll have more details and pictures tomorrow. I forget how many pounds of apples go into it, but it's a bunch! Oh, and my cousin Bill is coming up from Texas--I haven't seen him for ages!
I was planning on making deviled eggs to take for our potluck, but when I talked to Mom, she said that's what she was going to take. (Watch, we'll both think the other is bringing some, and neither of us will make them!) I think I'll make baked beans instead. We'll head back home in the late afternoon to watch the Notre Dame game. I can tell it's a home game (we're playing Purdue), because when I went to the store today, it was really crowded! Everyone was stocking up on their tailgating supplies. Should be a lovely day for a football game...and for making apple butter!

Hi Beth glad o see you were back again....I wish we could listen to the debate..however no doubt it will be on the radio and if I wake up around 3am. it may well be on...however like you I want to be up and out early in the morning. Mary and I want to go into Bath and if I am not in town by 9ish. I will never be able to find a parking place that is suitable. (I always have to watch that no one can park behind me or I might never get my wheelchair back into the car !!)
Ive never heard of apple butter...what is it and what do you use it for ? looking forward to seeing the photo's/ Love Sybil xx
Tonight is ere Shaabbat, so I will have to check the reruns tomorrow evening. Not into football, but Mark loves Apple Butter. I guess I should learn :)
Laini
... how did #2 know I love apple butter ..! Man, that sounds good ..!
have a great time with your family tomorrow! Linda
Oh, you're going to have a good time. There's
no fun like family fun! My BF and I make
apple butter, in huge copper pots, outside
(in the picnic shelter) as a fund raiser for
the Youth League at the church. We
usually make 300-400 qts each year, but
we have lots of help. It's fun and so good.
Making apple butter with a lot of family sounds like a lot of fun. Helen
With my mind made up and a Netflix backlog I'm going to skip the debate - I'm sure you'll fill us in soon enough lol
Dan
I like Dan's comment, LOL; let's see, dinner out with hubby/son or watch the debate-------hmmm. such a tough decision........I like being in the minority so I think we'll be in that 17% that doesn't plan to watch it
enjoy the debate and enjoy making apple butter (that sounds more fun to me :)
betty
I am passing on the debate...I know, I know...I should watch but I honestly can't stand to hear the sound of their voices anymore. I am sure the net will be filled with clips tomorrow from the media nit picking every single gesture & word they said along with the ever present counting how many times each of them blinks. I sound sour on this but it is just getting soooo old. On a happy note, the apple butter making festivities sound great! I would love to do something like that. You are probably right about the deviled eggs...she won't make them either now, :) Have a great time tonite watching the debate & be sure to fill those of us who are defecting in on the action tomorrow.
Lisa
I don't know what everyone has got planned tonight here, but I would like to catch at least part of the debate! Apple butter making sounds like great fun! Let us know all about it! Have a great weekend!
Hollie
Beth,
It's On! I say be there or be square! (Here's where I give you a cyber high five!)
Deviled eggs, baked beans, and apple butter! Oh my!
Have fun withyour family tomorrow. I must get back to MJ!
Check ya later,
Wes
I'm part of the 17% who won't be tuning in. I don't have a Tv, I do have a date, & I see tonight as being a manic gallop, full on spin cycle, scripted & practiced & tragicomic. I don't like what I think I'm getting from either side enough to be on some YaY track about their debate. ~Mary
Should be very interesting. The funny thing is that the real audience is a small portion of our country. I would estimate that 80% or more of those who are going to vote have already made up their mind, so the last 20% are the real target. This represents an audience of about 20 million that may be influenced. In 2004, the Bush victory margin was about 10 million.
ok,now remember im a brit ok?? we dont eat the same things you do lol and im damn sure you not daft enough to eat some of the things we do, bearing all that in mind beth..............what in hells name is apple butter? is it easy to make?? will i like it?? lol interested to see how its made. great entries hun, will post soon, take care love mort xxxx
Your weekend sounds like such fun! Wish I was a member of your family. As soon as I have a little time, maybe I'll make some apple butter. I haven't done it in years, and you've got me thinking about it now.
I'll be watching the debate. Sigh.....
I'm currently watching the debate now. Neither one seems to be doing well. Have a good weekend.
Missie
who really cares if it is "fair" to those two to change the topic?
i mean, gee, people who are DECENT hard working American's who work DAILY, even sick who can not afford health insurance and right now can not afford FOOD, GAS AND UTILITIES, need to know what the hell is going on with the bailout and where the hell their LIFE SAVINGS just went in their 401K's and we are supposed to be worried if those two men who will say what we want to hear to be elected have had time to study or get their words straight? BS.
