Soggy Nutwood Breakdown

Does anyone have blueprint plans for an ark? Anyone?

Good grief! It's been raining all day here, thanks to the remnants of Ike. That little red circle is roughly where we're at, and as you can see, it's a fairly large area of rain, with the heaviest right around us.

We have standing water in the yard, although we rarely get that because of the drains that Ken put in shortly after we moved in here. There is just too much water, and nowhere for it to go! The far pond, where the drains empty, is full, and it looks like it might be close to overflowing its banks.

We'll be safe here, because we aren't in a flood plain, but there are plenty of people in the area who are, and they're going to have some problems.

My pal Lori is at the opposite end of our state, and oddly enough, they're getting high winds but no rain so far--we're getting heavy rains but no winds! If we could get a little wind, maybe it would blow this sucker out of the area, instead of having it just sit on top of us like a big wet blob. Now it looks like the wind is picking up a bit, but nothing fierce.

All I can say is that Ike must have really been a monster, because for us to have such torrential rains for so many hours is very unusual. I hope the good people of the Gulf area will be able to recover soon!

Definitely a lot of rain here.  I remember when we got caught in Tropical Storm Cindy in NOLA, but that was a deluge and it was sunny the next morning.  This has been almost non-stop since Friday night.  I am going to guess 15 inches before all is said and done. :o)

I can tell you from experience that at least it is moving swiftly so you shouldn't get too much more.  We just need it to stop.  I can't clean it up fast enough.

Just take care......  Maybe it will be over soon!

Here in Louisville, Ky we had 35 to 60 mph winds from IKE,  there was alot of tree damage, roof's torn off buildings and power outages not expected to be repaired for a WEEK!!  (Thank goodness we didn't lose our power!).  We didn't have any rain with it thank goodness or it would have been much worse!

It is very rare for us to be having winds like this.  So far no rain, but it is very dark and cloudy. 'On Ya' - ma

I was about thinking that my happy life onthe Gulf Coast is not worth the risk after all these hurricanes,  but if they are getting that kind of damage in KENTUCKY I might as well stay put!

Hope everyone dries out soon.

okay, I'm in San Antonio, and.......we got next to nothing.  A little breezy, a smidge of drizzle, and that was it.  AND it was 90 degrees at 9:00 last night.  Ugh.  I kind of feel gypped.

Luckily, our house sits on a hill so it would take a whole lot more than this to flood our house and our yard is on a slant so the rain (unfortunately for them) runs off into our neighbors yard.  We did have some issues getting to my mom's who lives in New Carlisle.  The only road that leads to hers was very flooded in spots.  I'm glad it's coming to an end and the earth will have a chance to soak up some of this water.  There will be a lot of insurance claims this week.

... you know, I thought the same thing, that this Ike really must have been a big one ... talked about the tornado that was in my vincinity ... the rains have been constant during the weekend, as if the sky would never stop crying ...

It is strange that you guys got the rain and we got the wind.  There were a few light sprinkles for about a minute, and that was it!  I was watching some of the footage of the flooding in Indiana this morning on the news, and I'm glad you guys aren't part of that.
