Football!

It's that time of year again, folks, and it's hard to believe that in an hour and a half, we'll get to see this year's version of the Fighting Irish. I'm hopeful that they have turned things around from last year, and that we get to see a potent offense and a powerful defense. I'm really not sure what to expect...last year was such a disappointment. But we've been hearing pretty good reports from the practices, so we shall see. The burning question...will quarterback Jimmy Clausen get some FREAKIN' protection this year and not be a walking, talking sack waiting to happen? Enquiring minds want to know!

In the meantime, we're watching Illinois (Ken's alma mater) beat Eastern Illinois. A little sloppy at first, but they seem to be settling down, and they're winning handily.

Earlier today, we heard jets fly over--they always do a flyover at Notre Dame Stadium right before the game starts. I think it was just last year that they were circling our area, so we got to stand out on the deck and watch them zoom by--it was really cool! I hope we get to see that again this afternoon.

More later!

may the best team win; I read in our paper this morning that Notre Dame is playing SDSU; being a San Diego "native", I'm routing for them (I have no idea how good of a team Sah Diego is, LOL), but I'm sure it will be a good game regardless :)

enjoy watching it!

So after Tennessee (my Tony's team) I know to root for ND and then Illinois. Or is it first Illinois and then ND?  Please advise.

... I don't remember when ... but I recall THE Ohio State University playing ND ... wasn't pretty ...

... these cats remind me of the Gerry Faust era ... and you can't win on ND schedule with coaching/playing like that ... too many big intersectional games, and too many usually good to very good teams (USC, Mich, MSU, Pur, NW) for that ...

... maybe 7 wins ... in better news, go Cubbies ..!

Love having BigTen Network on Direct TV.  We get to see Illinois FB & BB games.  Looking forward to a victory today, and yes, as Mark says, go Cubbies.

Me<----not one to follow football. Yet I can't help but get caught up in the spirit of your enthusiasm. Wishing you luck whichever way your rooting. (Hugs)Indigo

Hope you're team wins.  I'm not much of a football fan.  Suffered thru the Seahawks/Raiders game last week, hoping to see my son in the crows~fat chance!  Too many people.  Linda in Washington state

I'm not a football fan...or really any other sport.  I get into baseball ....when my teen is playing for his school, but that's about it.  I'm sure the jets flying over was cool.

Are you sure the jets aren't circling your house?

I would love to see the jets fly over.  My mom is a big Irish fan...so now you know at least one person in PA who ISN'T a Penn State fan.
