The Mt. Sterling, Ky., company has received four consumer complaints and no reports of injuries. Spokeswoman Roz O'Hearn said the reported foreign substance -- hard red plastic as well as clear flexible rubber-like material -- might have splintered off from a testing device and some of it could be buried inside with sharp edges.
The recall involves 54-ounce, 12-pack cartons of Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza brand stuffed sandwiches. Printed on the side of each carton is "8157544614D," "EST 7721A," and "BEST BEFORE JAN2010." They were produced on June 5 and distributed to retail establishments nationwide.
For more information, consumers should call 800-350-5016.
I'm sorry, but doesn't the Hot Pocket sort of already qualify as a foreign material?
Have you ever had one of these things? Oh, it's no Nutraloaf, and I'd eat one if I were hungry enough, but these are...not good. Blazing hot mystery meat in a soup of melted cheese substitute, surrounded by a pasty pastry shell. Yummy-yum!
Hoooot pocket....

I've never tried one of those things. I just didn't think I'd like them.

I was about ready to ask, are they sure the hard red plastic type material wasn't the processed fake pepperoni in those things. I refuse to eat anything resembling those pastries. (Hugs)Indigo
Never had one; didn't look like it would taste very good.

For those that may not get the reference, Jim Gaffigan does a comedy bit about Hot Pockets, and Hooooot Poooooookets must be said in a sing-song voice.

I'm so glad I have never bought those kids of things. If I want anything "pizza" I'll eat it at my monthly book club, held at Roundtable Pizza. I hope no one gets seriously injured eating these "foreign substances." Linda in WA
Sodium filled, preservative ridden mystery product...all the way around! No thanks!

Big product recall up here too with Maple Leaf Foods and listeriosis. Who kinows how far it will spread as symptoms take a while to show up.
How safe is our food? As a microbiologist I am sure there are stories you could tell.
... as long as it doesn't affect Butterfingers or the Nestle syrup (strawberry ... yum!) I am good ... Tostino's pizza rolls are my thing ..!
If it had been pizza rolls, 97% of the single men I know would be passing sharp pieces of hard red plastic right now, & only about 20% of them deserve that.

did i tell you i have diverticulitis because of all the processed food i ate my whole life? When i almost died 2 yrs ago i asked if it was my obesity. They said, not at all.....but the more processed foods you eat, the more your intestines and bowels have to work and if i kept eating it all, my butt would explode. Literally. I could not tell you the last time i had a Hot Pocket. You can never truly taste the food inside!
XO
Ok- I'm wierd, but find these things OK !!!!! LOL. Not GREAT, but when I'm hungry at work and there is nothing else (although, I cant say that anymore since they stock our vending machine with healthy salads and wraps now) I would eat it.
But, only when there was nothing else.
It is pretty gross though !
(mention of your prior entry)- I'm glad you had a good time going out with your friend. Any guy with a motorcycle is cool in my book !
Be well,
Ellen
