Happy 4th to all my J-Land pals!

MySpace Comments: Chromaluna.com

I hope everyone has a great day today, and while we're enjoying our festivities, let's take a moment to remember what this holiday means, and to think of the bravery of those that risked imprisonment and death in order to create our republic. It was a remarkable feat, and bears a little reflection.

We'll be heading over to my sister's later this afternoon--my brother-in-law said we can come over between 4 and 5, somewhere around there. Di has been stockpiling fireworks for a while now, so I have a feeling we're in for a show tonight! I'm ready for some cookout food, too. Di is making potato salad, and she makes it very well. Nom nom nom. I'm sure I'll get pictures!

I wrote yesterday about my niece's warning concerning Tijuana. I emailed her and asked if it was really that bad. She wrote that yeah, it's pretty bad. She said that Ken and I are pretty savvy travelers, so we'd probably be okay, but there are some family members that she would absolutely BAN from going there. She also said that she wouldn't go. So that's that. Ken and I had talked about it last night and were leaning towards not going--if military personnel are not to go, we should probably take a clue from that--and for Jen to say that she wouldn't go, effectively and definitively makes up our minds. What a bummer!

We are realists, though, and call me crazy, but the thought of being kidnapped, or spending the rest of the year in a Mexican prison, just doesn't hold much appeal for me. As Jen said, we'll have some good Mexican food in a San Diego restaurant and call it a good deal!

I'm a realist also & the thought of obligatory mingling in a Mexican jail for years, well, I'll pass. Practical applications in life. ~Mary

Hmmm Mexican prison...Nah, I wouldn't chance it either. When I was younger I took more chances than I should of. These days something called experience kicks in gear when I give things some thought. Hope your 4th is a grand one hon! Happy Independence day to you and Ken. (Hugs)Indigo

That would be a much better deal than prison, jen has a point there ;)  Hope you had a good cookout for your celebrations x
